So here's a sample of where I've been this year:
The Fault In Our Stars - John Green
City of Thieves - David Benioff
Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore - Robin Sloan
Seabiscuit - Laura Hillenbrand
Behind the Beautiful Forevers - Katherine Boo
Beautiful Ruins - Jess Walter
Child 44 - Tom Rob Smith
Me Before You - Jojo Moyes
Mystic River - Dennis Lehane
Gone, Baby, Gone - Dennis Lehane
Shutter Island - Dennis Lehane
And The Mountains Echoed - Khaled Hosseini
The Monument's Men - Robert Edsel
The Fort of Nine Towers - Qais Akbar Omar
Where'd You Go Bernadette - Maria Semple
Don't Let's Go To The Dogs Tonight - Alexandra Fuller
The Boys in the Boat - Daniel James Brown
Gulp - Mary Roach
The Moonflower Vine - Jetta Carleson
In Cold Blood - Truman Capote
Orange is the New Black - Piper Kerman
I think I might be missing a few (and have omitted a few, yes there was one Nicholas Sparks book in there somewhere and yes, the latest Dan Brown too maybe - not admitting to either though). And there are all of the ones I keep starting and never finish - Onward and The Handmaid's Tale notably. It's been a pretty good year thus far! Best book of the lot? The Fort of Nine Towers. I was in such a book withdrawal depression when I finished it.
And last week, Jhumpa Lahiri's new book came in the mail! Been waiting a long time for this one, so keeping my fingers crossed it's good. 20 pages in, I think it will be. But, I'll let you know!
